Bon Fete Nationale to The People of France

July 14, 2012 in Foreign Relations, Holidays, Press Release by princebishop

Storming the Bastille, Eugene DelecroixHSH David, PrinceBishop of the Serene Principality of Serendip, wishes the people of France a “bon Fete Nationale” on this the 222nd anniversary of the storming of the Bastille.

“The people of France have much to be proud of on this the day of their national celebration,” said HSH David. “While we do not ordinarily support the removal of monarchs from power by force, in this situation it was entirely appropriate.”

The removal of the royal family from power led to a lengthy period of social upheaval, a brief restoration, Napoleon Bonaparte twice, Bonaparte’s relatives in power again before they finally got their republic off the ground.  It takes a while.  But the French did it and the Serene Principality of Serendip is glad they succeeded.

The Royal House will be hosting a small, informal reception, involving French wine and pate, this evening to mark the day.
