FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: 23 September 2012

Time: 8:30am

At the behest of His Serenity, David, PrinceBishop of the Serene Principality of Serendip, the Royal Press Office sadly announces that the Principality’s Autumnal Equinox celebrations and associated release of commemorative stamps, have been postponed.  This obvious statement, issued following the non-marking of the Equinox, is explained by the pressure of work.

“Running and maintaining the Royal Household takes money,” said His Serenity. “And when a project comes along that has deadlines conflicting with the Holiday, but that will pay the bills for a while, We will do what is best for the Nation.  Keeping income actually coming in is critical for the Nation.  However, We are not blind to the national, patriotic and spiritual significance of the Autumnal Equinox celebrations.  As Bishop and Metropolitain of the Orthodox Church of Serendip, my spiritual obligations are clear.  We will celebrate the Equinox, and mark it well.  The date of those celebrations will be at sunrise on September 29th, lakeside in our Eastern most province.”

His Serenity went on to say that the postage stamps will be released later in mid-October.
